Ducray Melascreen Anti-Spots Concentrate
What Is It & What It Does
- This is a targeted depigmenting concentrate designed to reduce and correct brown/dark spots (such as sun spots, hormonal spots, post-acne marks) by acting on them at different formation stages.
- Ducray describes it as the “1st global dermatological solution” with very high concentration of depigmenting actives (15 %) to correct existing spots while preserving natural skin pigmentation.
- It is suitable for face, neck, décolleté area.
- The formula is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and developed to minimize allergy risk.
-
It is also compatible with pregnancy or breastfeeding (safe use in those conditions) per Ducray.
Main Active Ingredients & Their Roles
Ducray’s formulation attacks hyperpigmentation through a “three-level” mode of
-
Main Active Ingredients
• Azelaic Acid – regulates excess melanin production at the source, helping fade dark spots and even out skin tone.
• Glycolic Acid (AHA) – gently exfoliates dead skin cells, speeds up skin renewal, and reduces the intensity of brown spots.
• Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone – works on the vascular component of pigmentation and has antioxidant properties to support spot correction.
-
In addition, the formula includes moisturizing and skin-compatible ingredients like glycerin, squalane, caprylic/capric triglyceride, etc., to balance tolerance and texture.
How to Use It
- Cleanse gently your skin and pat dry.
- Apply once or twice daily (morning and/or evening) the concentrate only on the affected areas (spots) on face, neck, and décolleté. Avoid the eye area.
- Let it absorb, then follow with your moisturizer.
- In daytime, always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (e.g. SPF50+), because the active acids increase sun sensitivity. Avoid direct sun exposure.
- Use continuously for at least 1 month to see visible results.
Cautions & Tips:
- If you have very sensitive skin, start by applying once per day or every other day to gauge tolerance.
- Avoid applying on irritated or broken skin.
- If redness, burning or irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.
- Do not use near eyes, lips, or mucous membranes.
- Because of the presence of glycolic acid (an AHA), skin becomes more sun-sensitive — sun protection is essential during use and for a week afterward.
Expected Results & Evidence
- According to Ducray, the product unifies and evens skin tone within 2 weeks in clinical studies under dermatological control.
- A clinical trial involving 47 women (with melasma, hormonal or post-acne marks) over 2 months showed a significant proportion of improved subjects.
- Third-party sources claim very high efficacy: e.g. “98 % reduction in size & intensity of dark spots, 96 % reduction of existing spots, 94 % improvement in tone uniformity.” (Note: these figures reflect marketing claims and should be considered with caution).
- Users often report gradual fading of dark spots, more even skin tone, and a brighter complexion after consistent use.
